The Melbourne Catholic Book Club was begun at the Caroline Chisholm Library in November 2008 on the initiative of Professor David Birch, and has been meeting regularly at the Library ever since.
Anyone interested in reading and discussing Catholic books and writing, or works with Catholic themes, is welcome to join us. Our meetings are informal and not at all high-powered but we do endeavor to have worthwhile discussion. As well as novels, we have looked at short stories, poetry, and devotional works.
The Club meets at 7pm on the last Friday of every month. There is no subscription, but members are requested to subscribe to the Caroline Chisholm Library if they are able. Members vote towards the end of each year on the works that will be discussed in the following year, normally one per month.
Our motto is Gaudium de Veritate (Joy from the Truth)
